Remark placed here 2016: AFTER 20 years of stocking 6SL7 tubes, we see the same old thing happening as with all NOS tubes, but I have to admit, this comes by surprise to me with 6SL7. Now suddenly we get regularly requests, we have regularly sales, even with prices go up, and no new stock arrives anymore. Even the fakers mafia jumped on the boat.

Philips 6188, is a stronger version if the 6SL7, with extra specifications.

With this tube, we have another of those typical NOS stories building up. We have still many of those, but people apparently LOVE to wait until they get almost sold out, to jump on the boat at the last moment. Saying I wish I had...

These are a suberb 6SL7. They have long plates, and tube curves are almost identical to 6SL7. What makes 6188 different, is the many improvements it has over 6SL7.

It has a black plates, and unlike most other 6SL7 I have seen, it has flat anodes. 6188 can be in "stand by" for a longer time, which is not allowed for regular 6SL7.

Sylvania 6SL7. Military box, with 1966 date code and more information. Lovely, much sought brown base, and colored printing. I am sorry, these are expensive, but tube quality, and old packaging is as NOS as can be. "W" stands for military quality. So this is NOT what was produced by Philips ECG, "last time buy" from the 1980's, which usually has a black base, und used to pop up in the 1990's for very low cost.. This here is Sylvania, finest 1960's date code, military material.

Mint Quality tubes. Believed to be NOS, but white boxes. Appearance, stamps and test data perfect and fresh like new. Perfect matched pair. I estimate these are from the time at the WW2. Really old, and test like NEW.

Other famous versions are: ECC35, CV1985 and VT291.

ECC35 has another operating point, but it will fit in normal 6SL7 circuits, since this is a high gain tube and auto bias is functioning very nice with high gain tubes. ECC35 has 0,4 Amps filament current, whereas 6SL7 has 0.3 Amps. Higher lifetime is produced by the higher filament current.

CV569 Mullard Military designation for ECC35. Original 400mA filament current tube. This is an original ECC35, not 6SL7.

CV1985 is by Mullard. Identical to 6SL7, but special army P/N for higher quality, and better testing. Was not sold for commercial purposes.

VT229. USA Army P/N for higher quality, and better testing. Was not sold for commercial purposes.
