This picture series shows how to terminate a speaker cable set with the Furutech locking type bananas. Estimated working time for a stereo set of cables is one hour. The best way to solder it, is with old fashioned, lead containing solder. With Silver solder, make sure you don't overheat the cable. The speaker litz cable we sell, fits very nice to the Furutech connectors.

Here is where to start.  Cut off the cable sharp, with no loose copper particles. A nice, sharp cut is needed to get a clean solder connection, that you need later for Furutech connectors.

Bind the roll as shown, so you get no mess on the bench.

Next thing is, you put simply transparent tape around it where you want to splice it later.

We recommend a length of 23cm.

IMPORTANT: To work faster, do all steps at all four ends at the same time. May seem a silly advice, but it is a good one ;)

Cut is away with a scissor. It should have NO SHARP pointed ends. Use no cutter knife. So you don't damage the inside cotton.

Prepare nicely like this, and then shift on the black shrink sleeve.

Cut away all loose ends. No need for a surgeon precision job, but also don't leave a cotton brush stick out, as that would be visible through the sleeve later.

Prepare both ends at equal length, and then shrink the black sleeves on.

Tape all ends like this.

Tape it normally tight. When too lose, it will shift, when too tight , later the tape will break when heated, and we don't want that to happen.

With a sharp knife, cut away the cotton that sticks outside the tape

This is a simple step, just apply a tiny bit of solder.

So when you cut off the isolation, the tip stays nicely in shape.

Cut off the isolation, just where the tape begins. Shift on a piece of shrink sleeve.

Then solder it like this.

The sleeve will shrink wile soldering, and keeps the litz wire nicely round, and no solder drops, etc.

Solder it, with the shrink sleeve on, and then remove the sleeve after soldering.

Make sure you see a lot of solder go inside the cable. This is needed to make the ends stiff, so the cable can't break or get loose at this point later.

After soldering.

After removing the sleeve. The isolation is not burning so quickly. The dark colour you see is resin. You can just leave that on.

The shrink sleeve set we sell contains 4pcs red, 4pcs white and 8pcs transparent.

Order number is: 710-041-79

Shrink like this. Cut off too much shrink sleeve with a sharp knife. Try to make it look precisely as shown here, and try if it fits in the banana connector smooth.

Make sure the screws are not obstructing, also not just a little bit.

For a nice looking result, do this part precisely and clean.

Mount the bananas, and before you do, put on the TWO pieces of transparent shrink sleeve on the cable ends. (see next picture too)

The connectors have color rings. (in case of a mistake you can take those rings off)

Ttighten the connectors moderately only. Use no big force. After a few months the solder will adapt to the form of the connector and the set screw, and then you need to re-tighten the screws.

So even if soldered, it will adapt. Then you will see you can tighten them a bit faster, moderately again. This is the best way.

Important: Mount the connectors in the right position.

transparent sleeves are shown before shrinking.

Important: Make sure that the white shrink sleeve is very cleaner before you shrink the transparent sleeve over it. Smallest dirt will be visible otherwise. Also blow dust particles out of the transparent sleeve before shrinking. (just with your mouth). Then shrink it.

While shrinking the transparent sleeve, be sure not to melt the plastic of the connectors itself. These plastic parts are not overly sensitive, but they can melt. So take care.
