This socket solves an old problem of tubes enthusiasts. The miniature tubes like 6021W, etc. are for sale still at reasonable prices. These are generally superb quality, and the latest generation of American tubes. As you know, noise level of tubes goes down with physical size. So actually these tubes are quite nice products. However the flying leads makes them uncomfortable to use. With these sockets they can now be used on amplifier printed circuits boards. The mechanical pin contact is very good, so when the tube is plugged in with all eight pins, it is fitted just as good as a normal tube. Additionally, it is recommended to use the Duende tubes rings for those tubes, and you have the ultimate tube combination! Another picture |

First: This socket is highly recommended for free wiring, because you have very large double solder lugs,that have two holes each, plus you can wind a wire around it. It has a "collar" for that, So you can mounts a great part of the components and wires directly on the sockets.
Second: These have have the great possibility to measure all signals directly through the front plate, when you make the chassis hole wide enough. There is a copper pad for this, beneath each tube contact, and these can be accessed from above. Take care for isolation precautions when do this! We say it here officially: When you do this you need a cover over the amplifier, or anything else to prevent you touch the copper pads by mistake. If you do not want this, you should make the chassis hole small enough to cover the copper pads.
