Svetlana" is Russian woman's name that translates as "Bringing Light"; the story tells that was the name of factory's founder's wife.

Svetlana is not an importer or distributor. Svetlana Electron Devices, Inc., is a genuine tube brand with the factory in Rusia, where the tubes are engineered and manufactured.    In the past, the exclusive sales rights for the brand was with the American Partner, also owner of the Brand rights.  Until some years ago, this was a joint venture. Now this joint venture has ended, and there are two factories now. One is Svetlana "winged C".  This factory works now under Russian responsibility only.   The other is Svetlana Svetlana Electron Devices, which is under American management.

We sell only the tubes from Svetlana SED, which we think are better organised. Their expertise makes it number one production facility in terms of quality.

Additionally to this,  there is also Svetlana NOS for sale.  From the 1970...1980's sometime some lots of tube occur.  This is allways winged C.

What means the letters "PL"

The Svetlana EL34 has become a classical product,  if you want a reliable tube from a genuine brand.  The EL34 is a real three grid penthode, and no beam-tetrode like 6550 or KT88.   So the linearity of the EL34 is better than the KT88 or 6550, and it's a real HiFi tube,  It can be used in guitar applications as well, where it gives a smooth distorted sound, less harsh than KT88 or 6L6 will do. 

The EL34 glass and system gets amazingly hot, and still this tube will not suffer from it. We have sold many of these, and it's a typical product that we only sell, and never have a return for.   The printing on the glass is done with metallisation.  So it will never wipe off, or burn.

What means the letters "PL"

Another classical tube from Svetlana.   This is one of the last remainung old tube brands on the market, that you can still buy new KT88  from.  These tubes are remarkable good quality.   The return rate of those is close to zero.   It's a typical tube for guitar amplifiers, but many good HiFi amplifiers are made with this tube as well.  It is the largest triode available of it's kind.   A real NOS Quad,  USA branded , costs you almost 800 Euro (while we write this  in 2005...).    So quad of the Svetalana's is a real bargain,  and the skyhigh NOS prices are not justified at all as long as this great tube is available.    The printing on the glass is done with metallisation.  So it will never wipe off, or burn.
